Cotton cache Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

stperrans: Thank you everyone for visiting our cache. The cache has been out 8 years and we have enjoyed looking back at all your photos of your visits. Although we live in Cumbria we don't get up to Wasdale that much these days to maintain the cache. We have therefore decided to close the cache and remove it from the fell side. This was done on a very typical lakeland day, wet and misty!

Geocache Description:

The cache is not to far from a well known mountain pass so is accessible from a number of starting places, Wasdale Head and Seathwaite being the easiest. All though in amongst the Lakeland Fells it is placed low enough down that families with a reasonable amount of fitness will be able to walk to it.

Why “Cotton Cache”? well the cache was placed on our second wedding anniversary within sight of Great Gable. Great Gable was the first fell that we walked together when we first met, so we like to revisit it regularly. Since we think the cache is in a place accessible by families with have stocked it with trades that young children should find interesting. If you visit the cache and this is not the case please tell us and we will happily restock it. Although not on a fell top the cache is at over 450 metres above sea level and even at this height the weather can be very different from that in the valley. Please make sure your party is well equipped for a fell walk with warm clothes, full water proofs (even on a sunny day), some spare snacks, compass and map (don’t just rely on your GPS).
