Geocache Description:

A Standard micro....to introduce you to one of the area's newest parks set to open Spring 2008. This is the first and hopefully not the last....

Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation Department and Huntersville Parks and Recreation Department broke ground for the new Robert C. Bradford District Park at 10a.m. on Thursday, August 10, 2006. This park will provide a much needed recreation facility for Huntersville and the rapidly growing suburbs of northeastern Mecklenburg County. The new park will total more than 210 acres. Phase one of the park will cost $5.2-million dollars, paid for by an important public partnership. Mecklenburg County will provide $4.2-million in funding from park bonds. The Town of Huntersville will contribute $1-million and then operate the park under a long term lease with the county. The park is scheduled to open in the spring of 2008 with 3 soccer fields, a baseball field, 4 softball fields, a picnic shelter, restrooms, and walking trails. The park is named for Robert Caldwell Bradford (known as Caldwell), lifetime resident of Huntersville, whose family lived on this land for more than a century. Caldwell Bradford, his wife Mamie and their sons were dairy farmers. They ran Hiwassee and Hunter Dairies, well-known throughout Mecklenburg County. The county purchased the land for recreational use.

--------Congrats to JaLa good time for the FTF! ---------

12/24/2019 - This corner has been under construction so the cache keeps going missing. The hardware where the original cache was placed has gone missing so I moved it to another nearby object. Note, it is not on the electrical box or under the rocks.
