in our disclaimer.
This area is in the southeast of the “Kellerwald” and
is surrounded by the nature park “Kellerwald-Edersee”.
It is located on 320 m height north of the mountain comb
“Keller”
Ein Foto der location wäre super!!
a picture of the location would be nice!!!
Deutsche Version:
in Bergfreiheit.
Millionen Jahren,
im Devon- und Karbonzeitalter Quarzite, Ton- und Kieselschiefer
(der Schiefer enthält zudem schöne Mangan-Ausblühungen; so genannte
Mangan-Dendriten),
an meine email-Adresse.
eventuellen Problemen...;)
Vielen Dank an Ermelyn und ihren cache GCYQ1M gaaaanz in
der Nähe.
English version:
Special geological conditions of the “Kellerwald”
(change from volcanic and sedimentary rocks)
offered the basic condition for centuries to the mining industry in
“Bergfreiheit”.
As an offshoot of the “Rheinischen Schiefergebirges”
the “Kellerwald” is developed from earth-historic very
old rocks.
Before approximately 300 to 400 million years, in the Devonian and
carbon age,
quartzites, clay- and flint slate (the slate contains besides
beautiful manganese blooming; so-called manganese dendrites),
red iron flint and Diabas (the basalt-similar diabases are of
volcanic origin) developed in the surrounding area of
“Bergfreiheit”.
At this time, iron ores with very high metal contents were flushed
out from
the interior of the earth under high pressure cooling off
procedures.
The copper and iron ore mining were particularly very
worthwhile.
The coordinates specified above show a quarry close to the visitor
mine in “Bergfreiheit”.
This demonstrates folded Kulm-flintslates with lenses and layers of
horn stone, quartzite, iron flints and tuff, as well as
Diabas.
Today it is still possible to find many traces for the extractive
metallurgy and processing in the surrounding area. And with a
little luck a piece of “Kellerwald”-agate.
The “Kellerwald”-agate is of volcanic origin and it
developed from hot iron compounds solved in the sea water,
which enriched themselves in parts at the sea-bottom.
To log the Cache please send the answer of the following questions
to my e-mail address.
How is the largest former pit field called and where can you find
the remains?
Which organism helped with its flint-acid skeleton remains to form
the flint slate won in this quarry?
Logs without sending the answers to my email
will be deleted!
You can log your visit directly, ownermail only if there are any
problems!!!
A big thank you goes out to Ermelyn and their cache GCYQ1M
very close to this one.
