Quinta da Marinha (Cascais)
First
came the vision...
When Carlos Montez Champalimaud, grandfather of the present family owners bought Quinta da Marinha in
the early 1920’s, he envisaged the creation of a residential
estate of exception quality.
In those
years, exiled European royalty were starting to built their houses
at Estoril.
Then, Cascais was a small fishing village and the wild coastline
of rocks and beaches stretched uninhabited to Cabo da Roca – the
most westerly point of Continental Europe.
Soon
the creation began...
Carlos Champalimaud planted forests and with rare foresight started the process of stabilising the
sand dunes.
He tired the
leading English architects – Cacket and Burns – to prepare the
first urban plan of Quinta da Marinha for the village council os
Cascais. Subsequently, roads were opened up and a few houses built
when in 1937 Carlos Champalimaud died.
The
carrying philosophy of the family for Marinha has remained
although the plans have matured with years. Golf courses,
tennis courts, swimming pools and the equestrian centre – not
considered in the 1920’s are part of the community of today.
Carlos Champalimaud’s vision of a carefully planned estate of
the highest quality, developed whilst respecting the natural
environment is now being realised.

Making money entails a lot more than predicting which
way the stock or bond markets are heading or trying to figure
which stock or fund will double over the next few years. For
the great majority of investors, making money requires a plan,
self-discipline and desire.
