Geocache Description:

A Lower Penn Lake / Hoeg Park cache.

(Photograph by Good Neighbors)

Summertime visitors will have to read the signs to know where the cache title came from, but in the winter, this is a really fun place to visit. Ducks and geese savor the open water that this aeration unit provides, and the water freezes into some very interesting sculptural shapes along the concrete stairsteps.

Note that there is no parking on West 86th St. Either park on Haeg Drive, Logan St, or in the park parking lot, and take the sidewalk to the cache.

Contains only a log and possibly a pencil (you never know about those things). Good luck!

THERE IS NO NEED TO OPEN THE METAL METER BOX! I don't know why they don't have a lock on it, but the cache is NOT in there. Leave it alone.

Logging Etiquette: Geocache hiders sometimes go through a great deal of planning to place their caches. As a result, they'd like to hear your feedback on whether you liked or disliked any aspect of the hide, or if you feel that some cache maintenance is required. Single word, acronym, copy/paste boilerplate, and emoticon logs may be easier when you have a lot of caches to log, but it doesn't tell the hider or other finders anything about your adventure (or lack thereof) in finding the cache. Please keep this in mind when entering your log.
