Novopacke vodopady / Nova Paka Waterfalls

A natural landmark situated not far from Nova Paka in eastern
Bohemia. The protected territory is inside a vast forest area that
includes a unique geomorphologic object - a small canyon with two
waterfalls that are the main object of conservation in this area.
According to geomorphologic classification the landmark belongs to
Nova Paka Highlands, part of Podkrkonosi Hills.
The waterfalls are part of right-side inflow of Zlatnice stream
that has sliced into the red-brown sediments (sandstones,
agglomerates or arcoses of Permian age created in the youngest
formation of the Paleozoic time about 280-230 million years ago)
with the so-called regressive erosion. The waterfalls are typical
sample of structural waterfalls created in dependence on different
resistibility of the layers of Permian sediments. About 200 meters
under the second waterfall there are distinct steps with rapids.
The most beautiful time to visit the waterfalls is spring when the
snow is melting. They are also very impressive in freezing weather
when water gradually freezes and the ice contrasts sharply with the
red colors of neighboring rocks and fallen beech leaves.
Spectacular effect during the melting is creation of cavity in the
ice column with water flowing inside. Most of the protected
territory is covered by spruce forest, only inside the canyon and
around it is possible to find higher concentration of beeches.
Although the area was never fully examined, it is possible that the
present fauna is similar to usual forest areas.

Jedna se o prirodni pamatku, ktera se nachazi
nedaleko od Nove Paky. Chranene uzemi lezi uvnitr rozsahleho
lesniho porostu, jehoz soucasti je i ojedinely geomorfologicky jev
- miniaturni kanon se dvema vodopady, ktere jsou hlavnim predmetem
ochrany uzemi. Podle geomorfologickeho cleneni lezi pamatka v
Novopacke vrchovine, patrici do Podkrkonosske pahorkatiny.
Vodopady jsou soucasti pravostranneho pritoku potoka Zlatnice,
ktery se tzv. zpetnou erozi zarizl do cervenohnedych sedimentu -
piskovcu, slepencu, ci arkoz permskeho stari, vzniklych v
nejmladsim utvaru prvohor pred 280-230 miliony let. Vodopady jsou
typickou ukazkou strukturnich vodopadu, vytvorenych v zavislosti na
ruzne odolnosti vrstev permskych usazenin. Asi 200 metru pod druhym
vodopadem jsou vyrazne stupne s perejemi. Vodopady jsou nejhezci na
jare, kdyz taje snih. Mimoradne efektni jsou pak v mrazivem pocasi,
kdy voda postupne zmrzne a led ostre kontrastuje s rezave cervenymi
barvami okolnich skal i spadaneho bukoveho listi. Velmi efektni je
jev, kdy se pri tani utvori v ledovem sloupu dutina, kterou proudi
voda. Prevaznou vetsinu chraneneho uzemi pokryva smrkovy les, pouze
v kanonu a jeho okoli najdeme vyssi podil buku. Prestoze uzemi
nebylo zoologicky zkoumano, da se rici, ze se zde vyskytuji bezne
druhy fauny, jako v podobnych lesnich porostech.
Pro uznani logu je treba splnit tyto ukoly:
- Zodpovedet nasledujici otazky a odpovedi poslat k overeni pres
muj profil
- Poridit fotografii dle fotohintu, kterou prilozite k logu. Bez
techto podminek nebude log uznan.
Otazky:
1) ve kterem roce byl Novopacky vodopad vyhlasen prirodni pamatkou?
2) Jakou ma chranene uzemi rozlohu?
3) Sejdete k vodopadu. Na prave strane po proudu hledejte kousek od
vodopadu balvan a na nem vytesany dvouslovny napis. Vas bude
zajimat pouze slovo na pet pismen.
Z mista parkoviste se vydejte za sipkou az k lesu. Jdete lesem, az
narazite na potok nebo cedulky s napisem Vodopady. K cilovemu mistu
pristupujte z prave strany ve smeru toku potoka. Primo u vodopadu
si ohlidejte svoje ratolesti a ctyrnohe mazlicky!!!
