The Wish You Were Here cache is now back in its original home :)
Back in its old home, please park at the chain even if it is down, I do not want to lose access to this spot again. The posted signs on the right and the left are for the properties on the right and left, the road in and the final destination are public land
Ok here is a copy of the e-mail I got from the Director of the Southeast Museum. So it looks like in the future I will be able to put this one back at it original location.
The Drewsclift Cemetery is so named because it sits on what was once the property of Daniel Drew (1797-1879), a wealthy landowner and businessman born in Carmel. Although he worked in circuses briefly during his youth, he made his first real money in the cattle business, and then eventually moved on to steamboats and railroads in the middle of the 19th century. His business ventures got a bit tricky at the end of his life and he died with most of his fortune lost.
In any case, the large stone castle-type home that sits across the street from the entrance to the cemetery was also his. The Drewsclift cemetery contains his grave, his wife's grave and some other family members, in addition to dozens of graves of other families in the area. The reason there are currently "Posted" signs there now, as I understand it, is because of damage that was done by Hurricane Floyd in 1999 to the access bridge leading into the cemetery. I'm not sure how much repair has been done on it, but I think the fact that the Town has posted it closed has to do with safety concerns.
This cache is a .30 cal ammo can.There are stickers, erasers, A lighter, a toy NASCAR, Necklace, and a groovy eye glass string.
