Earthcache Setup Primer Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

TerryDad2: Time to archive. Let me know if anyone is interested in Site 22. If I don't hear from anyone, I'll set up the earthcache there. There are great exposures of fossils.

Geocache Description:

Ever wondered how and where to set up and Earthcache? Come meet for a lunch discussion that will provide many potential sites and the information to go along with them.

This is the first day of day-light savings time.

For those of you that are not sure how and where to set up an Earthcache, this primer is the event for you. Come meet for an 11:30 am lunch in at Marie Calendars in Valencia (27630 The Old Rd Valencia, CA 91355. I5 and Magic Mountain Pkwy; coordinates approximate) and hear how to get your own Earthcache set up from the owner of 150+ Earthcaches and counting. You will hear how to find a site, get the geologic information, contact the land manager, develop the “educational” logging requirements, and maintain the earthcache. Ask your own question as well.

But wait, that’s not all… We will provide information and directions to geologic field stops that are in the Geological Society of America’s Guide to Field Stops, Ridge Basin, California. This guide provides the geologic information and directions to at least 30 to 40 locations near the I-5 between Castaic and Gorman that are suitable for Earthcaches. Accessibility ranges from roadside stops to day-long hikes, to locations that require a boat. Fine print (one location per geocacher unless there are extra, first-come-first served, not all cachers may qualify, some locations may not end up being suitable, no purchase necessary, locations may already be in the approval process by other cachers, approval not guarenteed, offer limted to supply on hand, while supplies last, not valid with any other offer, non-transferrable, offer has no monatary value, residency restrictions do not apply, membership not required, OAC, XYZ, etc)

But wait, there’s more… Still worried you won’t be able to understand your location or get your earthcache approved. Follow-up help via-e-mail will be provided. And depending upon timing and availability, assistance at your field stop can be provided.

Setting up an Earthcache of your own will help you get to higher levels in the Earthcache Masters Program.

Be sure to bring a camera to take pictures of your location and a notebook to take notes.

We have a large enough group that the Marie Calendars is requesting that we make menu selections ahead of time. This will also make it so we all get to eat in a reasonable amount of time. I've posted the menu as a jpg, but if you can't read it send me an e-mail and I'll send it as a pdf.

Please send me your menu selections by Friday (3/7/07) Evening as I will be busy Saturday. Also be sure to bring cash of various denominations to cover the check incase they require a single bill.
