Piscatória ao longo dos tempos, Quarteira viu o seu porto de
pesca ser construído nos inícios de 1998 ao longo destes
anos têm vindo a ser feitos diversos melhoramentos e hoje em
dia tem em progresso a sua 2ª fase que engloba a construção
de uma nova “Doca Pesca” e outras infra-estruturas.
Neste porto de pesca temos para além dos espectaculares pôr-do-sol
nos molhes juntos a belas praias, temos também alguns pontos de
atracção turísticas tais como os barcos usados na faina pelos
pescadores na sua lida diária e uma Capela com uma imagem da Nossa
Senhora da Conceição, Padroeira de Quarteira e dos Pescadores,
imagem essa que segundo reza a historia foi encontrada a nas redes
em alto mar por um pescador à coisa de 200 a300 anos e desde então
tem sido guardada pela Igreja até à pouco tempo que se mudou
para a sua nova morada numa pequena capela gentilmente cedida pela
CML e pela Junta de Freguesia de Quarteira a pedido da "Quarpesca"
no molhe do porto de pesca onde agora diariamente abençoa todos os
seus pescadores na partida e na chegada de mais um dia de
faina.
Quarteira has always been a fishing town, although the
fishing port was only built at the beginning of 1998. Several
improvements have been made ever since, and now-a-days the second
faze that includes a new fishing docs is in construction.
There are several tourist attractions available among watching the
spectacular sunsets from the various piers along side our lovely
beaches. At the fishing port you can see the boats used by our
fishermen on their daily toil, and also a small chapel on the pier,
where the image of “Nossa Senhora da Conceição” the patroness of
Quarteira can be seen. Word has it, that this image was found in
the fishing nets amongst the fish by some fisherman while he was
fishing in deep waters somewhat 200 to 300 years ago, it was
sacredly kept at the church until this chapel was built specially
to house this sacred image looking out over the waters, guiding and
blessing our fishermen and their boats going out to sea and coming
in every day.
Todos os anos no dia 8 de
Dezembro há uma Procissão em honra desta Santa que é levada nos
barcos de pesca a percorrer as praias de Quarteira em agradecimento
da sua protecção diária pelos homens do mar e da terra enquanto os
seus devotos a acompanham esta viagem pela avenida marginal junto à
praia sendo esta a maior procissão por via marítima do
Algarve.
Every year on the 8th of December there is
a procession in honour of “Nossa Senhora da Conceição” in
gratefulness and acknowledgement for the daily protection bestowed
upon all men in land and at sea. This image is taken out on one of
the boats and returns alongside the beaches with all the other
boats following in procession, while in land the devotees also
follow an image of the same saint in procession along the
marginal.
Existe
também uma ancora antiga exposta no molhe, fundeada numa
enorme pedra, ancora essa que foi arrastada das profundezas
do mar pelas redes de pesca de uma embarcação Costeira
“Poema do Mar” e depois oferecida à “QUARPESCA” Associação de
Pescadores de Quarteira que por sua vez resolveu expô-la de
modo permanente para embelezamento do Porto de
Pesca.
There is also an ancient anchor to be seen on
the pier, anchored in an enormous stone. This anchor was
dragged to land, in its fishing nets by a coasting-vessel
“Poema do Mar”, and then given as an offer to “QUARPESCA” an
Association formed by the fishermen of Quarteira. Quarpesca
decided to exhibit it on a permanent place for the good of
our fishing-town Quarteira.
