O Cine-Teatro Avenida ocupa um gaveto do Campo
da Pátria e da nova Avenida do Marechal Carmona, num terreno com a
superfície de 2.050 metros quadrados. Projectado pelos arquitectos
Raul César Caldeira e Albertino Crujeiro Galvão Roxo, o edifício
tem uma área coberta de 1. 147 metros quadrados, comportando 1.238
espectadores, sendo 52 em onze camarotes, 334 no 1º balcão, 218 no
2º balcão e 634 na plateia. O edifício, concebido no estilo
moderno, é um exemplar característico da evolução da Arquitectura,
operada no século XX, com o emprego de novos materiais de
construção. Além do salão principal, balcão e camarins possui, nos
seus três pisos, outros salões, botequins e todas as dependências
inerentes a uma moderna casa de espectáculos. A construção foi
iniciada em Abril de 1950 e ficou concluída em Setembro de 1954. A
inauguração foi feita no dia 2 de Outubro de 1954 às 22 horas com a
representação das peças "Premio Nobel" e "Ceia dos Cardeais",
primorosamente desempenhadas pela Companhia do Teatro Nacional de
D. Maria II, de Lisboa, da qual faziam parte a famosa actriz Amélia
Rey Colaço, Robles Monteiro e os apreciados actores, naturais do
Concelho de Castelo Branco, Robles Monteiro e Raul de Carvalho.
Este é o retrato do inicio do Cine-Teatro Avenida. Quarenta e seis
anos depois, eis o novo Cine-Teatro Avenida. Diferente, moderno,
dentro do espírito daquilo que se pretende que seja o panorama
cultural da cidade de Castelo Branco. A cidade ficou assim dotada
com uma soberba casa de espectáculos que pode colocar-se a par das
melhores do país".

The Cine-Theater Avenida occupies a space of the
Campo da Pátria and the new Avenue of Carmona Marshal, in a land
with the surface of 2.050 square meters. Projected by the
architects Raul Cesar Caldeira and Albertino Crujeiro Galvão Roxo,
the building has an area covered of 1. 147 square meters, holding
1,238 spectators, being 52 in eleven berths, 334 in 1º balcony, 218
in 2º balcony and 634 in the auditorium. The building, conceived in
the modern style, is a characteristic unit of the evolution of the
Architecture, operated in century XX, with the job of new materials
of construction. Beyond the main hall, balcony and dressing-rooms
possess, in its three floors, other halls, taverns and all the
inherent dependences to a modern house of spectacles. The
construction was initiated in April 1950 and was concluded in
September 1954. The inauguration was at 2 of October of 1954 at 22
hours with the representation of the parts “Prize Nobel” and
“Supper of the Cardinals”, played by the Company of the National
Theater of D. Maria II, of Lisbon, of which they were part the
famous actress Amélia Rey Colaço, Robles Monteiro and the
appreciated actors, natural of Castelo Branco, Robles Monteiro and
Raul de Carvalho. This is the picture of the beginning of the
Cine-Theater Avenida. Forty six years later, here is the new
Cine-Theater Avenida. Different, modern, inside of the spirit of
what one intends that it is the cultural panorama of the city of
Castelo Branco. The city was thus endowed with a magnificent house
with spectacles that can be placed along with the best ones of the
country ".
