Venezuelan Greenbottle Blue (Chromatopelma
cyaneopubescens)
My species is found in the dry brush regions of Northern
Venezuela and the Paraguana peninsula, and we're easily one of the
most visually stunning members of the Tarantula family. We have
blue legs, a green carapace (head), and a bright pumpkin-orange
abdomen.
We reach an average adult leg span of about 5 inches. We produce
a large amount of ground webbing, which often consists of a series
of tunnels. This is even truer among our captive-bred brothers and
sisters, making their enclosures quite a sight.
We're not overly aggressive, but we are very skittish and will
kick urticating hairs when threatened. Though we prefer relative
humidity of around 70%, we are very tolerant of dry conditions
making our kind great pets for humans - even the beginning
enthusiast.
