Welcome to what our family calls Turtle Beach, home of many turtles
and now its very first geocache. It can be conveniently reached by
parking in the Anaeho`omalu (A-bay) public beach acces parking lot.
When you get to the beach, head south past the local outrigger
canoe club storage and you will be on your way. We hope you will
see many turtles resting in the sun or feasting on kelp at the
shoreline.
This cache requires a little bit of venturing on the lava
fields, so we recommend that you wear sturdy shoes. "Teva" sandals
will do, however "local" flip-flops will not fare so well on the
a'a lava.
Please be sure to close the lid tightly to protect the contents
from the harsh sun and occasional Waikoloa rain.
We hope you enjoy the turtles and give them the respect that
endangered species deserve.
Aloha and Mahalo!
Small note on cache maintenance: An area
relative has created the geocaching account "barenegade32" to
monitor this and our other island cache between our
visits.
