avant JC à l'automne, le Général et consul romain Caïus Marius
remporte une victoire importante contre les Cimbres près de
Pourrières, entre la Sainte Victoire et le Mont Aurélien. En
mémoire de cette victoire une pyramide fût construire, elle avait
une base rectangulaire et des statuts de soldats étaient présents à
chaque angle. La base de 20 mètres environs est visible et la
partie sommitale est une fontaine dans le village de
Pourrière.

MARIUS, l'un sur l'autre en caractère de sable. La pyramide accosté
en chef d'un P à dextre d'or et d'un S à senestre du même

Cité en 1145 : "De Poreriis" ; la tradition
donne comme étymologie probable soit le vocable latin "Campi
Putridi", en raison du charnier laissé par Marius après la bataille
où il écrasa Cimbres et Teutons , soit du provençal "pòrri"
(poireaux en français, abondants à Pourrières).
[English] In 102 before JC in autumn, General and Roman
consul Caïus Marius takes away an important victory against Cimbres
near Pourrières, among Sainte Victoire and the Mountain Aurélien.
In memory of this victory a pyramid was to build, it had an oblong
base and soldiers' statuses were present in every angle. The base
of 20 metres neighborhood is visible and part of the summit is a
fountain in Pourrière's village.
