You will not be able to complete the puzzle without it.

This is a puzzle cache; the cache is not at the posted coordinates. The posted cords are for parking at the Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument Kris Eggle Visitor Center where you will begin your challenge.



You will need to get into the building to complete this cache; Visitor Center hours are 8am to 5pm daily, closed on holidays. All aspects of this cache are wheel chair accessible. You will not need to walk more than .3 mile to complete the puzzle. Please do not leave the designated trails while completing the puzzle cache; at no point do you need to go off the path for information or to find the cache. This cache has a difficulty rating of 4 stars, it is a tough puzzle and you will have to work for it!

To begin ask the rangers at the front desk of the visitor center to view the 15 min orientation slide program “Where Edges Meet.”


You May choose to cut and paste this into a word document and increase the font for an easier worksheet while at the site.

1. During the presentation answer the following questions to get the coordinates for part two.
a. Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument contains about _ _ _ square miles of the Sonoran desert; subtract 440 from this number to get the digits a a below.
b. There are _ subspecies of Kangaroo Rat that live in the flat plains area of the Monument; enter this number as b below.
