The road through the canyon is now entirely washed out. You must
park at N 46deg 38.860min, W 111deg 35.760min. The canyon is a
favorite spot for rock climbers. Don't worry! I don't have you
climbing cliffs. YET!. :) the cache is at an elevation of 5242' so
there is a 924' accent over 3.1 miles. It's a beautiful walk
through the canyon. The burnt forest you'll walk through is part of
the Canyon Ferry complex fires of 2000. Everything is lush and
green again. You'll have to have an alternative form of
transportation other than automobile, or 4-wheeler due to the road
closure. I'd recommend a mountain bike if you have one. You'll
probably have to carry the bike in several places however.
The cache is an ammo can with various items in it. The only item
I can remember is a pen torch. I put this cache together a while
back just waiting for an opportunity to put it out and now can't
remember what was in it. Please sign the log book if you find it
and post your find here if you would.
Also, bring enough water for a 6.2 round trip hike.
Happy Caching,
3/27/07 The road has been repaired and you no longer have to walk
so far. You can drive almost to the cache now. Jon
