Geocache Description:

This Cache is off hwy 10 near the Bailey Station Cemetery. Park in front of the cemetery.

This is the site of Bailey Station, a small town that was founded in the early 1850's. All that is left is the cemetery and a house north of the highway. Bailey Station is still found on many Minnesota Highway maps.
Orlando Bailey came to Big Lake township from New York in 1852 and opened a hotel and a stage coach stop on what is now Hwy 10.
A small community soon formed, complete with a railroad station. The Hwy interchange caused the removal of the old school house and a 1930's gas station that was moved to the Sherburne History Center (See Sherburne History TB Hotel).
The Red River Ox Cart trail used to run through this area.
The Wingard Farms surround the site and approved the placement of the cache. The cache is on public property.
DO NOT GO INTO THE FARM FIELD. THE CACHE IS NOT IN THE CEMETERY.
