Dublin Docklands: Bridges Old And New Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

igyigyigy: Went to see if this was still there and it is not.
I'm archiving this as ground zero has become a hangout for drunks so I'm not comfortable replacing it in its current location. I'll try to place one nearby in the coming weeks.

Geocache Description:

The cache is located on the closer of the 2 (one old, one new) bridges to these coordinates.
You'll need your own pen or pencil.

The coordinates will bring you to a spot from which you can see 2 bridges (in particular) in Dublin's Docklands.
  • The older set are Bascule bridges associated with Dublin Harbour, these were installed in 1912 and are a design by William Scherzer.
These are quite similar to many bridges in Chicago by the same designer.
  • The newer of the bridges is the Sean O Casey bridge, a swing bridge to a design by Irish architects Brian Halloran & Associates.
This bridge was opened in 2005 and is a busy pedestrian bridge connecting the north and south side of the river Liffey.
Initial cache contents were a geocoin, some dice and a tiny compass.
