Geologisches Naturdenkmal Pastoratsberg
Faltengebirge

Das Steinkohlengebirge wurde im Oberkarbon vor rund 300 Millionen Jahren gefaltet. Die damals entstandenen Gebirgsstrukturen geben Auskunft über den Hergang der Faltungsbewegungen. Bei der Gebirgsbildung verschoben sich die Schichten nur um Bruchteile eines Millimeters im Jahr. Da dieser Vorgang einige Millionen Jahre dauerte, konnte es zu der beachtlichen Verbiegung der Schichten kommen.

 The carbon mountain was folded for about 300 Million years. The originated mountain structures show the evolution of the folded motions. The stone layers displaced only parts of millimeters a year by the orogeny. This mechanism continued over millions of years, so the layers buckled a lot.
