Geocache Description:

Basura Park isn't the name of the park (Basura is Spanish for "trash"). I don't actually know the name of this stretch of land; it was just so trashed that I couldn't resist. Please, please bring a bag and help CITO this park!

Blurb from "The Street Where You Live" p153:
In 1857, when Benjamin LaFond (1819-1904) platted LaFond’s Addition, he originated only three new east-west streets: LaFond, Lake Street (now Blair), and Bluff Street (now Van Buren). LaFond, born in St. Boiface, Canada, moved to St. Paul in 1851, where he dealt in real estate with Auguste Larpenteur and Alexander Ramsey. His numerous descendants continue to erroneously insist the parallel streets to the south of LaFond Avenue were named for members of the LaFond family. Let it be forever known that definitive research in the plat documents clearly proves the four street names—Thomas, Edmund, Charles, and Ellen (now Sherburne)—had all been named in other plats prior to LaFond’s Addition.
