IRON BED
(EN) In the year 1830, in the course of the Thaya-river regulation under emperor Francis I., the Pulkau had to be conducted into the new Thaya in a straight line. There was only one way to do this: the Mühlbach had to be underrun by the other brook. This is how the solution came about that is considered bold and remarkable even by today´s standards: the extremely rare crossing of two waterways, also called aqueduct. The Mühlbach was conducted over the Pulkau in a river bed of iron. This is how the "Iron Bed" as it was soon popularly called came to be.
(D) Im Zuge der Thayaregulierung im Jahre 1830 unter Kaiser Franz I., musste die Pulkau auf geradem Weg in die neue Thaya geführt werden. Um das zu verwiklichen gab es nur eine Moglichkeit: Der Mühlbach musste unterquert werden. So kam diese auch heute noch kühne und sehenswerte Losung zustande, die äusserst seltene Kreuzung zweier Wasserwege, auch Aquadukt gennant. Der Mühlbach wurde in einem eisernen Bachbett über die Pulkau hinweggeführt. So enstand das "Eiserne Bett", wie es vom Volksmund bald genannt wurde.
(CZ) V rámci regulace Dyje v roce 1830 za císare Františka I., musela být rícka Pulkau vedena rovnou cestou do nové Dyje. Zustala jediná možnost, jak tento plán uskutecnit. Mlýnský potok (Mlýnská strouha, náhon) musel být podkopán. Tak vzniklo odvážné a ješte dnes pametihodné rešení. Jedná se o velmi vzácnou vodní križovatku zvanou aquadukt. Mlýnský potok byl umísten do železného koryta nad ríckou Pulkau.
