PT- Sendo esta a nossa primeira cache e como somos “rookies” acha-mos que está simples e fácil de se encontrar mesmo sendo uma multi-cache. Esperemos que gostem do local pois tem boas vistas sobre o mar e serra Algarvia.
ENG- This being our first cache and as we are “rookies” we think it is easy to find even it being a multi-cache. Hope you enjoy finding it as we have selected a spot with nice views over the Algarve Sea and Mountain.
PT- Fora do centro urbanístico de Loulé, a Ermida de Nossa Senhora da Piedade ou da Mãe Soberana, ergue-se em local elevado. Erigida no século XVIII no local de uma construção mais antiga é, pela sua localização, um excelente miradouro sobre a cidade e o mar. Com bons acessos e um vasto parque de estacionamento.
De arquitectura simples e modesta, no seu interior evidencia-se o altar da capela-mor, com retábulo em talha do século XVIII. A imagem de Nossa Senhora da Piedade, do século XVII, colocada em lugar destacado, é caracterizada por uma expressão de grande dramatismo.
Perdem-se no tempo as origens da devoção da população do concelho de Loulé à Mãe Soberana. Por altura da Páscoa, realizam-se festejos em sua honra que culminam com um curioso evento: no segundo domingo após a Quaresma, um grupo de homens carrega a imagem da padroeira num andor, subindo em passo de corrida pelo caminho que leva à Ermida.

ENG- Away from the centre of Loulé, the shrine (chapped) of “Nossa Sehora da Piedade or Mãe Soberana” as it’s known, built on an elevated spot in the XVIII Century, it is an excellent view spot terrace over the city and the sea with good accesses and a big parking space.
Of a modest and simple architecture, inside you find the statue (image) of “Nossa Senhora da Piedade” from the XVII century on a high-alter from the chancel with decorated panels in carved work of the XVIII century, the image is characterized for its dramatic expression. Lost in time, the origins and the beliefs and devotion of the population of Loulé to “Mãe Soberana” , during Easter time a festival in honour of “Mãe Soberana” takes place where a group of men carry the statue on a frame work in procession running up the slope to the shire.
