Wallfahrtskapelle Zeiselhof Multi-Cache

In Zeiselhof, a settlement between villages Pama and Deutsch Jahrndorf, right next to the austro-slovakian border, stands small, but notable chapel. The original one was built back in 1754 on a place, where statuette of scourged Jesus was found by sheppard. This place became a destination of pelgrimage, therefore new Chapel of The Exaltation of The Holy Cross was built in 1764. Statue of chained Christ, sculpter by unknown author, was placed to the shrine. Lierne vault was fresco-painted by famous austrian painter Franz Anton Maulbertsch (his masterpieces are to be seen e.g. in Primatial Palace of Bratislava).

In 19th century was chapel frequently visited by pilgrims from Pressburg, encouraged by capuchin priests. After WW II., chapel got right to the edge of Iron Curtain, "at the end of the West World" and almost all the inhabitants of village moved out. Chapel was abandoned, robbed and crumbling.

From the April 1999 till 2001 was renovated, valuable fresco was reconstructed by experts (they had to uncover eight layers of newer painting and original colours showed up!), statue of chained Jesus was placed back to the chapel (his head is original from 18th century). Interior of the chapel, a jewel of mid-europian art, became a place of worshiping once again. Service is every Tuesday at 5pm.

Coordinates in heading will lead you in front of the chapel. Take a note of year KLMN, which is a part of the wrought-iron gate. In Zeiselhof, einer Siedlung zwischen den Dörfern Pama und Deutsch Jahrndorf gleich neben der österreichisch-slovakischen Grenze, steht eine kleine aber beachtenswerte Kapelle. Ursprünglich wurde sie 1754 an einem Platz gebaut, wo die Statue des gegeißelten Jesus von Hirten gefunden wiurde. Dieser Platz wurde dadurch zu einer Wallfahrtsstätte. Daher wurde eine neue Kapelle zur Kreuzerhöhung 1764 gebaut. Die Statue des in Ketten liegenden Christus, von einem unbekanten Künstler erschaffen, wurde dort in einem Schrein aufgestellt. Das Deckenfresko stammt vom berühmten österreichischen Maler Anton Maulbertsch (seine Meisterwerke sind z.B. im Pricipalenpalast in Preßburg zu sehen).

Im 19. Jhd. wurde die Kapelle regelmäßig von Pilgern aus Pressburg besucht, angespornt durch Kapuzinermönche. Nach dem zweiten Weltkrieg stand die Kapelle  genau neben dem eisernen Vorhang  am Ende der westlichen Welt und die meisten Bewohner der Siedlung verließen das Dorf. Die Kapelle war verlassen, wurde geplündert und verfiel.

Zwischen April 1999 bis 2001 wurde die Kapelle renoviert, die wertvollen Fresken wurden von Experten rekonstruiert (sie mussten 8 Lagen neuerer Farbe entfernen bis die Originalfarbe zum Vorschein kam!). Die Statue des in Ketten liegenden Jesus wurde zurück in die Kapelle gebracht (deren Kopf aus dem 18 Jhd. stammt). Die Innenausstattung der Kapelle ist ein Juwel mitteleuropäischer Kunst. Die Kapelle wurde wieder zu einem Platz der Anbetung. Gottesdienst findet jeden Dienstag um 17:00h statt.

V osade Zeiselhof medzi obcami Pama a Deutsch Jahrndorf, len 100 metrov od rakúsko-slovenskej hranice, stojí na pohlad nenápadná kaplnka. Pôvodnú kaplnku postavili v roku 1754 na mieste, kde predtým údajne za zázracných okolností objavil pastier oviec zakopanú sošku zbicovaného Krista. Miesto sa stalo cielom pútnikov a tak už roku 1764 postavili novú kaplnku Povýšenia Svätého Kríža a na jej oltár umiestnili sochu zbicovaného Krista pripútaného retazami na kamenný stlp. Sochu vytvoril dnes už zabudnutý prešporský rezbár ("ein Pressburger Schnitzer"). Klenbu kaplnky ozdobil krásnou freskou rakúsky maliar Franz Anton Maulbertsch, ktorého diela možno obdivovat aj v Bratislave (Primaciálny palác).

V priebehu 19.storocia kaplnku ako známe pútnicke miesto radi navštevovali obyvatelia Prešporku, vyzývaní a povzbudzovaní najmä tunajšími kapucínmi. Po druhej svetovej vojne sa z osady Zeiselhof ("zajací dvor"), ktorá sa ocitla tesne pri "železnej opone" na konci západnej Európy, skoro všetko obyvatelstvo odstahovalo. Kaplnka sa stala majetkom arciopátstva v Pannonhalme, bola však opustená, vykradnutá, pomaly sa rozpadala.

Od apríla 1999 do roku 2001 ju obnovili na nepoznanie, vzácnu Maulbertschovu fresku odborne zreštaurovali (bolo potrebné odkryt osem vrstiev náteru a farby sa zachovali pôvodné!), zázracnú sochu trpiaceho Krista znovu umiestnili do kaplnky (jeho hlava je pôvodná). Interiér kaplnky, významný klenot stredoeurópskeho výtvarného umenia, sa znovu stal miestom vrúcnych modlitieb. Omša sa slúži každý utorok o 17:00.
