Bobbo's Cache Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Hoebeau: We can't come up with enough mementos to further memorialize Bobby's Chic that my daughter will take the chance of losing again. Further, after studying the area a while, this site has become way too "trafficky" to hide a cache this close to all the new activity and unauthorized trails. So, Bobbo is consigned to our memories and his cache is archived. All she could say, through some tears, was "...Stupid people...!" And I have to agree.
Thanks to the 90+ who found the cache legitimately and enjoyed reading the history of a remarkable horse and the girl who loved him. God bless -

Geocache Description:

In Embudito Canyon of the Sandia Mountain Wilderness area at an altitude of 6620' MSL. Visible foot trail in good condition, but no identifying markers. Moderately easy hike, one mile from parking, elevation gain 400'. Popular area, don't let muggles trail you. Child-friendly but not for strollers.

Bobbo is the name of our old horse (RIP), though his formal name was Bobby's Chic. Foaled in 1970, he came to us as a teenager as a 4-H project, went to college with our daughter in Kentucky, came back after graduation, and lived to the ripe old age of 35. An Arab/Tennessee Walker mix, he was a bay with white socks. His cache is a round cookie tin colored sort of the same way. It contains his picture, a log and pencil, and a number of horse-lover trinkets and trade goods. The first several pages of the log contain more of his story.

Park at the Embudito trailhead at the east end of Trailhead Road (Montgomery east to Glenwood Hills, north to Trailhead) and hike the trail that follows the north contour of the Embudito drainage. About a mile later, you will arrive at a small meadow (horses love meadows) where several trails join above the seasonal waterfall. The cache is 235' away on a heading of 063 true from a circular cairn in the middle of the meadow.
