Don’t attempt this type of cache unless you are experienced with abseiling gear , and able to deal with heights.
As with this type of cache all care has been taken , but the responsibility is totally up to you .
The only Equipment needed is a harness and a carabiners ( no ropes needed ) to clip into the pulley on the tyronlean traverse .
This destination will take you to one of the best sport climbing areas in the blue mountains .
The reason for the name , comes from the movie . you know the part where the rescue team are using a tyronlean traverse stretched over a huge canyon .
This is what awaits you. ( minus a helicopter )
This is the only parking area , usual you will see a quite a few cars here , they will be climbers ( winter only ) From the car parking spot walk west 100m up the road to a fire trail. This is the start of your adventure.
From here follow the newly graded trail for 25 min till you will see the cairn ( small pile of rocks ) on the left hand side.
This is a single trail track heading west ( well walked ) follow this for 5 minutes or so till you get to a small cliff . a quick rock scramble with a rope in place to assist .
Continue for a short while the track drops down on the left and follows a over hung cave , at the end of this ,there will be a rope to assist a 2 meter rock scramble down to a track which will follow the base of the cliffs.
The tyronlean traverse is a couple minutes from here , the cache is on the other side up the hill.
All in all should take 45min to 1 hour each way if on foot. Or if on mountain bike around 30min each way . only ride the mtb on the fire trail .
