Wayfarer's Walk is a long distance path which starts at Inkpen
Beacon, this is also an end point of The Test Way. It is close to
the site of Combe Gibbet and follows a meandering route to
Emsworth, some 70 miles distant. The path starts in Berkshire, but
most of it is in the county of Hampshire. The path runs close to
the highest points in both Berkshire and Hampshire as witnessed by
the nearby trig points. Parts of the walk can get muddy and deeply
rutted whereas other parts are an easier terrain. I hope you enjoy
the wonderful views from this scenic path.
I had to use this unusual name even though the cache is a little
bit past this point. Coming here from the west, you will also pass
Walkeridge Farm. This is a typical farmyard scene straight from a
story book. There were cows, sheep and a gaggle of geese which were
definatley gaggling with a vengeance when I walked by. Just past
the farm is a small campsite with just a handful of occupants -
please don't feed them. When I was placing the cache, a light
aircraft landed in an ajoining field, but promptly took off again
when one of the camper's dogs started barking at it!
When you write you log, could you please include the phrase "for
down", you may spell "for" any way you wish.
