Geocache Description:

A moderately long and steep hike up beautiful Schaghticoke Mountain.

This is a beautiful, long, fairly steep hike up the AT to the peak of Schaghticoke Mountain. You will start in Kent, CT, near Bulls Bridge. Parking coordinates are listed. Take the white blazed AT up to ground zero in New York State. Don't leave the trail too early, or you will miss the gorgeous view at what I am calling Apple Ledge (where I would stop to sit, rest, take in the distant views, and eat a Braeburn apple if I had one). Also, the bushwhack from the early approach is very steep. Instead, continue past Apple Ledge waypoint on the AT (which circles the peak always about 500 feet from ground zero). Leave the trail when you feel the timing is right and bushwhack about 400 feet to GZ.

At GZ you will find Michabo, the Lord Hare, deity of the Algonquin Indians. Michabo sits atop the cache. Watch out for snakes !!

Hope you enjoy this first cache of the series to come.

Total hike is 4 miles round trip. Elevation change is just over 1000 feet.

FTF gets choice of items ... and there is great loot in here. The best choice may be the animal spirit card deck or the jasper crystal. Other choices would include turquoise nuggets, obsidian apache tears, feng shui coins, brass bells, and a happy Buddha.
