Geocache Description:


GeocoinFest Multi Event (North Carolina)

Whether you are a veteran geocoin collector or a new person interested in finding out about geocoins, join us for a funfilled day, lots of geocoin trading, and of course plenty of area caching before and after .

  • Where: Jordan Lake Educational State Forest

  • Why: Meet geocachers and learn about geocoins

This event is open to everyone. So even if you don't collect geocoins, come and spend the afternoon hanging out and sharing geocaching stories with other area cachers. It's an easy smiley. Hope to see you there!

Geocoin Activities:
Bring your geocoins to trade, swap and share with others for viewing and discovering.

Park Hours: 11 am - 8:00 pm (entrance gate is locked promptly at 8!)

Other Activities:
Plenty of activities available in the JLESF park for geocachers and non-geocachers alike, including a variety of walking trails and numerous geocaches.

Geocoin Race:
A group of geocoins will be starting a race from this event, with the finish line being the GeoWoodstock VI event in California next spring. If you haven't ever seen or moved a geocoin that is partaking in a race, this is your chance, as over 50 racers will be revving up their engines and departing throughout the day!

Directions and Maps:
From the I-440 Beltline, take US-1 South to the US 64 West exit. Follow US 64 for about 15 miles, after crossing the second Jordan Lake bridge turn right onto Big Woods Road. Follow Big Woods Road for 2.8 miles, park is on your right.
Once in the park, follow the main road through the first parking lot, continue past a helicopter display and park in the trailhead parking lot. Shelter is located a short distance off parking lot near the start of the Talking Tree Trail.

Food:
We will be providing the basics of a picnic lunch with hotdogs, chips, drinks and other goodies, but feel free to bring an extra snack or special item for the grill to share with the group! There are several grills in the shelter and two fireplaces as well as electrical outlets.
