Letište Raná - místo, kde se v roce 1932 zacala psát historie ceského plachtení ...
Tato cache je umístena nedaleko letište Raná u Loun, historickém míste ceského a ceskoslovenského plachtení. Zde se v roce 1932 zacala na svazích hory Raná psát slavná historie našeho plachtení. Konal se zde 1. a 2. národní plachtarský závod. Ústrední plachtarská škola zde v letech 1933-1938 vyškolila prevážnou vetšinu našich plachtaru pilotu-instruktoru.
Po osvobození v roce 1945 mírila na Ranou mládež z celé republiky. Zemská plachtarská škola zde vyškolila 962 pilotu, kterí zde v roce 1946 provedli dnes nepredstavitelných 41 367 startu. Dnešní sportovní letište vybudovali lounští plachtari brigádne. Za slavnou prukopnickou minulost nazvali plachtari Ranou u Loun kolébkou ceského, ceskoslovenského plachtení.
I nyní se na Rané plachtí, i když na jiném míste než kdysi (hangáry byly umísteny na druhé strane kopce, pri výstupu na nej mužete videt zbytky základu a beton pro ukotvení navijáku) takže mužete nález cache spojit s prípadným vyhlídkovým letem (prevážne o víkendech a slušného pocasí), nebo jen pokoukáním na letecký provoz.
Cache je sice umístena mimo areál letište, ale není problém se do vyhrazených prostor podívat, prípadne i po dohode s nejakým clenem AK treba do hangáru.
Na letišti se vyskytuje sysel obecný, kterého pri troše štestí urcite spatríte, vydáte-li se odlovit nedalekou cache Alta Vista VIII [Rana] (visit link) a i když náhodou syslíka nespatríte, ten krásný výhled za šplhání do kopce stojí !!! :-)

This cache is situated near to the Raná airport which is historicaly important for czech and czechoslovak soaring. famous history of soaring begun in 1932 on a slope of the Raná hill. The first and second national soaring championship was held here The central soaring school brought up here the majority of our soaring instructors in years 1933 - 1938. After the liberation in year 1945 youth from every corner of The Czech Republic were heading here and 9že pilots were brought up here. They have done here 41 367 starts which is unbeliveable now. For the famous pioneer history Raná was named The creche of Czechoslovak soaring.
Today you cal also see gliders flying here but on different place than in the past. Hangars were moved on the North-West side of the hill. You can join the seeking for the cache with visiting of our airoprt or with a sightseeing flight or just watching air traffic.
Althought the cache is located outside of the areal of the airport there is no problem to get into the no trespassing area or to get into a plane.
Short-cuted grass of airfield is a great place for existence of a huge population of souslik so it is next attraction to see there. If you were lucky you should see one. (Ideal, when you would like find near located cache Alta Vista VIII [Rana] (visit link) )
