The Rutka Nature Reservat was established in 2001 and covers the
area of 49 ha.
Rutka boulder field covers the area of 0,5 km² and is a unique
example of the so-called glacial pavement. Boulders which can be
seen here are the remains of boulder clay washed away by crosive
waters. This erosion took place during the latest Northern Poland
glaciation period which ended about 12-15 thousand years ago.
In contrast to other boulder fields, the boulders in Rutka (mostly
granites and greisses) are not hidden under the earth, which means
that they are almost wholly visible. This situation was caused by
the activities of humans as well. In the 70s a state farm decided
to remove the boulders and start cultivating the land. Some of the
boulders were pulled out of the earth but the intervention of the
nature preservation service put an end to that ravage.
A beautiful panorama of the Szeszupa valley can be admired from a
viewing platform in the North-Western part of the boulder field.
The famous Wodzilki drumlins, another landscape wonder and an
object of geomorphological interest, can also be seen from that
platform. The drumlins are a regular chain of longitudinal hills
separated by depressions. They are more and more often considered
to be of morainal origin.
Lake Linówek, easily seen from that point, also contributes to the
beauty of the landscape. The isolated position from other water
sources has enabled the preservation hare of the European crayfish
(Astacus astacus) - a rare species in the Suwalki Region
now. Moreover, the surroundings of the lake with many rare and
protected plants are also of natural value.
Extensive cattle grazing takes place in the boulder field. It
protects the area from being overgrown with trees and bushes. The
boulder field is accessible for tourists but they are requested not
to destroy the fencing and not to frighten the animals.
The given coordinates will lead you to the parking place of the
Rutka boulder field.

Rezerwat Rutka zostal zalozony w roku 2001 i zajmuje powierzchnie
49 ha. Glazowisko Rutka zajmuje powierzchnie 0.5 km kwadratowego i
jest przykladem tzw. bruku polodowcowego. Widoczne tu glazy
stanowia pozostalosc po rozmyciu gliny zwalowej przez wody
topniejacego lodowca. Glazowisko powstalo podczas ostatniej epoki
zlodowacenia ok. 12-15 tys. lat temu.
W przeciwienstwie do innych glazowisk, glazowisko Rutka (w
wiekszosci granitowe) nie jest ukryte pod ziemia, jest calkowicie
widoczne. Wynika to z dzialalnosci ludzkiej. W latach 70. ubieglego
wieku rolnicy postanowili usunac kamienie i rozpoczac uprawe na
tych terenach. Czesc kamieni zostala usunieta z powierzchni ziemi,
ale na skutek interwencji obroncow przyrody niszczycielskie
dzialania zostaly przerwane.
Z pobliskiej platformy widokowej bedacej czescia glazowiska mozna w
kierunku polnocno-zachodnim podziwiac piekny widok na wies
Szeszupa. Z platformy widac tez inny piekny widok na polodowcowe
wzgorza w okolicach znanej wsi Wodzilki. Jest to regularny lancuch
poludnikowo rozciagajacych sie wzgorz rozdzielonych obnizeniami
terenu. Te formy uksztaltowaa terenu dostarczaja wielu informacji o
tym, jak powstawal wspolczesnie podziwiany krajobraz.
Pieknym elementem krajobrazu widocznego z tego punktu jest tez
latwo dostrzegalne jezioro Linowek. Separacja od innych zrodel wody
pozwolila na zachowanie tu europejskiego gatunku raka (Astacus
astacus) - charakterystycznego dla suwalszczyzny. Na wartosc
suwalskiej przyrody sklada sie równiez otoczenie jeziora z wieloma
obecnymi tu unikatowymi i chronionymi roslinami. Zachowanie
glazowiska zawdziecamy intensywnemu wypasowi bydla, ktore chroni je
przed zarosnieciem przez krzaki i drzewa. Glazowisko jest dostepne
dla turystow, ale nie moga oni niszczyc ogrodzen i ploszyc
zwierzyny.
Podane wspolrzedne zaprowadza Cie na parking glazowiska
Rutka.
