The Duck Nest with the Silly Rules Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

ScouterDuck: Amusing in some ways frustrating in others. Today was supposed to be a routine post-snow maintenance check of this cache, but what I found was that the county has had a contractor in to harvest some timber in the immediate area. No problem in and of itself, but the cache seems to have been run over by a logging vehicle of some sort. I was lucky to have found anything at all. A small corner of plastic was sticking out, and I had to dig the destroyed remains out of several inches of mud. The container is in several pieces, but much of the swag has survived. The ziploc with the log was ripped and the log soaked and soiled, but I was able to salvage the written logs to date. Amazingly, the travel bug also survived with only a broken chain for his dog tag- I'll replace that and move him on- he is a very lucky bug!

I have another container and will try to replace this in a month or so, but it will have to be in an entirely new location.

I took photos of the remains of the cache and will post in a few days.

Geocache Description:

A camo duct-tape covered lock'n'lock in Jefferson County's Washington Park.

I’ve noticed an increasing number of these silly-rule caches popping up lately, including one called “The Silly Rule Cache.” So, to coincide with the Washington Park “Meet n Greet n Eat n Play High-Tech Hide n Seek” event, I thought I needed to place one of my own. Further, I’ve decided to go overboard, and thus this cache has a handful of silly rules. The first rule is that no one may know all of the rules until he/she has found the container, and read them from the the lamintated paper inside. Finders are hereby sworn to secrecy! I will recommend that you take a camera, since one of the rules requires you to post a photo (I just won’t say of what yet) and also a notebook to copy the rules so you’ll remember them when you do your online log. Later finders may be able to guess the gist of some of the rules by reading the other logs, or maybe I just want you to think that you can.

Park at either the Reforestation Headquarters building or the roadside picnic spot just down the road. GPS accuracy was a little dicey while hiding this; the posted coordinates are an average of several readings taken on different dates. So I'll say that the cache is about 20 feet off an ATV trail, and about 100 feet from a piece of culvert.
