The cache is in a small forest not far from the levee of the Maros river.
On the edge of this man-planted forest stands this huge oak, which must have survived a great number of cutting, felling and logging around him during the centuries. (I hope he will survive the cachers’ logging, too…) Coordinates: N46 13.985 E20 16.709. His circumference is more than 600 cm which makes him the biggest oak in Csongrad County. I learned about his existence from a wonderful book entitled Dendromania by György Pósfay, which lists all the big trees in Hungary. The data is accessible at www.dendromania.hu.
I placed the cache a few meters from this ancient tree because it would have been disrespect to stash the box in his hole.
How to get there?
By bike, you can reach it from Szeged either on the levee of the Maros or on the bicycle road along highway 43 to Deszk.
By car, take road 43 and turn north at N46 13.142 E20 15.716. This will lead to the oak itself but sometimes this road might be closed.
Deszk (pronoun. desk) is a pretty village with a small Serbian minority.
You can buy beautiful flowers by the road after visiting the cache.
