"San Cristoforo sul Naviglio" è una piccola chiesa sul "Naviglio
Grande", ma la sua storia la rende una tra le chiese più
particolari della città.
La chiesa è, in realtà, costituita da due differente chiese
accostate, la prima delle quali risale al XIII secolo durante i
lavori di costruzione del naviglio. Qui fu poi collocato un ospizio
che nel XV secolo fu rimpiazzato da quella che oggi è la "seconda"
chiesa, chiamata la "Cappella Ducale", per sciogliere un voto che
fu fatto a San Cristoforo in occasione della peste.
Gian Galeazzo Vistonti, per commemorare la storica vittoria del 25
Luglio 1391 contro le truppe del conte d'Armagnac, dedicò la chiesa
ai santi Giovanni, Giacomo, Cristoforo e Cristina, che si
commemorano proprio in quella data.
La festa dei santi è diventata poi l'occasione di una sagra e
l'opportunità per la benedizione delle vetture nel giorno del santo
patrono dei conducenti.
Il cache è un contenitore di metallo per mentine,
con base magnetica, avvolto in una piccola bustina di plastica per
maggiore protezione. Contiene solo il logbook ed il mini stashnote.

Il luogo non è molto protetto, per questo controllate la foto e
fate molta attenzione.

"San Cristoforo sul Naviglio" is a small church located on the
"Naviglio Grande", but its history makes it one of the most
particular of the city.
The church is, in reality, made by two different churches set side
by side, the first of them had been build in the XII century,
during the works for the construction of the "Naviglio Grande". In
here it was set an hospice, but during the XV century it had been
replaced by the actual "second" church, called "Cappella Ducale",
to absolve a vow that was made to Saint Cristoforo during the
pest.
Gian Galeazzo Visconti, (ruler the city of Milan), to celebrate
the historical defeat of the Conte d'Armagnat that happened on July
25th 1391, decided to devote the church to the saints Giovanni,
Giacomo, Cristoforo and Cristina, that are commemorated on that
exact date.
The celebration of the saints became an occasion for a feast and
the opportunity for the benediction of the vehicles on the patron
saint of drivers.
The cache is a metal mint small box, with a
magnetic base, wrapped into a small plastic bag for better
protection. It only contains the logbook and a mini stashnote.
