So if you would like to know more about
supporting technology, get some advice, give some advice, or
just come along for a good ol' chin wag with other cachers
this event is for you. The evening will be useful to cachers
that have gotten started but might know have some questions
on how to take this obsession to a new level. Complete
beginners are of course welcome, and I'm certain plenty of
the 'old hands' will attend as well to swap tales.
Where: UPSTAIRS at the listed
co-ordinates (the New Sydney Hotel).
Please RSVP so we can give the New Sydney accurate numbers (and
justify getting the whole upstairs!)
When: Saturday, 23 June from 6
pm
What: Topics being covered include
using Geocaching Swiss
Army Knife (GSAK - well known and regarded software to store
and manage cache listing information), OziExplorer (mapping
software), using PDAs for maps and cache listings, Geocaching Australia
(a tour around the facilities!), obtaining accurate coordinates,
and general information such as container and swap
choice.
Our aim is to present briefly on a variety of
topics, then afterwards eat some food, drink some beverages, and
have a chat. All gurus are happy to answer questions, and there are
sure to be other experienced cachers there as well.
Profiles of the 'gurus' are listed below so you
know who to go to if you have specific questions regarding GPSrs,
caching software, mapping software, caching trips, PDAs or handheld
computers, etc.
A note regarding wheelchair accessibility:
This is being held upstairs at the hotel, but if there are any
wheelies who would like to attend just let me know and I’ll contact
the New Sydney to see if any arrangements can be made.
