Geocache Description:

This cache is located off the blowout trail on the way up to Cedar Butte. This is a longer but more scenic route that splits from and then merges back with the main trail to the summit. Expect about a 3-4 mile hike round trip if you continue up to the top. The trail is a little steep at times, but my then-4-year-old made it with no problems.

You are looking for an ammo can hidden a short distance from the Boxley Blowout Overlook in a common Northwest hiding spot.

About the Boxley Burst from historylink.org
On December 23, 1918, heavy rain caused a blowout in the glacial moraine along the Cedar River Watershed, sending hundreds of thousands of gallons of water, mixed with gravel and detritus, down small Boxley Creek. Later known by some as the “Boxley Burst,” the disaster destroyed the logging community of Edgewick, but spared the lives of every resident therein. For the complete story, check out this link: Boxley Burst

Congratulations to dsvaughn and troublejv on the FTF!

This is an official MidMountain Mountaineers cache. We are a loose collection of hikers/cachers who believe the journey is more important than the summit. Enjoy our caches about half way up!
