Borgo a Mozzano (LU) - Il Ponte del Diavolo
La leggenda: un mastro massone non riesce a completare la
costruzione del ponte entro la data prefissata dal contratto.
Spunta il Diavolo che si offre di completare il lavoro entro la
notte, in cambio della consegna dell'anima del primo viandante che
avrebbe attraversato il ponte. Il massone accetta il terribile
patto, ma poi si pente e confessa tutto a un uomo santo. Questi gli
suggerisce di far attraversare il ponte, prima di ogni altro, da un
maiale. Il Diavolo, furibondo per l'inganno, tira un calcio che
conferisce al ponte la sua forma stramba e asimmetrica, prima di
sparire per sempre nelle acque del fiume avvolto in una nuvola di
zolfo.

Borgo a Mozzano (LU) - Devil's Bridge
Legend has it that a master mason did not succeed in finishing a
bridge within the date fixed in the agreement. All of a sudden, the
Devil appeared and offerend to finish the bridge before the end of
that night. As a reward he asked for the soul of the first wayfarer
that would cross the bridge. The mason accepted this terrible pact,
but repented his action and confessed everything to a priest. The
priest told him to let a pig cross the bridge before anyone else.
The Devil, furious at this deceit, kicked the bridge, giving it its
odd and asymmetrical shape, and then disappeared in the river,
surrounded by a cloud of sulphur.
