Geocache Description:

A picture quiz around the picturesque village of Ivinghoe which lies at the foot of the Chiltern Hills Escarpment. If you have an eye for detail or an interest in architectural features you may find this too easy!

The centre of the village has been deemed by Aylesbury Vale District Council as a Conservation Area and has many listed buildings. Most of the buildings in the centre date from the seventeenth or eighteenth century. Some are in brick and others in timber frame with brick infilling. There is a fine flint faced church and within walking distance, to the south, there is a well preserved windmill and to the north, a working watermill. The windmill is maintained by the National Trust and is open on Sundays and Bank Holidays during the summer. The Ford End Watermill is open every other Sunday in Summer. Nearby and also well worth a visit, is the Pitstone Green Rural Life museum which is open on Bank Holiday Mondays and the second sunday of the summer months. Curiously the museum also houses a gas engine and a cockpit from a Lancaster Bomber! Coordinates for the above, together with a pub for refreshments , are given below.

“The Lower Icknield Way”, part of an ancient trackway, once ran through Ivinghoe Village. The village is overlooked by Pitstone Hill and Ivinghoe Beacon on the “Upper Icknield Way”.

Now on to the quiz and cache hunt.

The above co-ordinates are for parking in the village centre. You must identify the house number associated with the pictures below. They are not in any particular order and can be found anywhere in the village. However you will not have to venture further than 125 metres in any direction from the parking co-ordinates. The cache can be found at:-

N 51 (K+C)H.(F+G)L(A+B)

W 000 E(L-F).(D-A)(K+E+B)(H-C-J)

You will need to follow the main road untill you find the footpath marker. PLEASE REPLACE THE CACHE EXACTLY AS FOUND. After finding the cache try walking further up the track for some fine views of the surrounding hills.
