[CATS] - Old Man Gum Traditional Geocache
caughtatwork: Alas, the cache has indeed gone. A very strange place for the cache to go missing from. I wonder how that happened? Ahh, well, another ammo can down the drain :-(
A few discussions with other cachers implies that the cache location has been compromised, so with the expense of ammo cans, sistems containers and swaps, I won't be replacing this cache.

The 82nd cache by caughtatwork takes you on a short walk through the bush.
Whittlesea Rd is the approach to this cache, turning off at Hawkes Rd and then pulling off into one of the side tracks.
The approaches to this cache are all fine for a 2WD car. The road base is solid and you should experience no issues even if the weather is somewhat wet.
You are up for around a 50m walk from where you can park the car, so you could almost consider it a drive by. Take small children by the hand and they'll get there without worries.
Please watch your step as the dry area will be a haven for snakes.
There is no particular reason for this cache location, apart from the bush area being very nice and Old Man Gum, where the cache is hidden, being quite a sight.
Heaven only knows how old trees of the stature are and with the complete lack of water around for the last few years, the crown of leaves at the top of the tree, and nowhere else, are a testament to the veracity and tenaciousness of the Australian flora.
This cache has been placed as the first of my CATS series. Campaign Against The Small. There are a plethora of small caches appearing around the traps and I believe it's always nice to find a larger sized cache, so here's one right here.
In Old Man Gum you are seeking a 2 liter sistema container hidden inside an ammo can. This should alleviate any moisture issues (if it ever rains) and should fire pass through, will hopefully protect the delicate plastic inside.
The cache contains the usual swaps as well as a logbook and pen.
