LEO LANIGAN PARK is located off Withrod Drive in Kline Heights, Halifax, NS.
This park was dedicated to the memory of Joseph Leo Lanigan.
Leo Lannigan was active in the community and played for Kline Heights Rovers in the NW Arm Softball League when, in 1936, they won the championship and the Scriven Trophy for the third consecutive year." He was invovled for a number of years in the organizational part (maybe secretary.... or treasurer) of the baseball program that was alive and well in the Kline Heights area. Although I have very clear memories of him the involvement in baseball was when I was much younger and I wasn't in that area so I don't know all the details, except that I remember that he was a fan of the game." " He was a very meticulous man in whatever he worked on, kept a beautiful flower garden in his back yard and liked to collect stamps. He worked on the waterfront and kept the log books there for many years." Thank-you to Jackie MacEachin, grand daughter for background info.
