Geocache Description:

Quick cache in a little corner of the Rouge Park.

This small cache is located in an area that attracts many birds and small wildlife. There used to be an elderly couple that filled the birdfeeders throughout the year, but they no longer do that - so this has become less of a "bird haven" and just another part of the wilderness of Rouge Park. You can still see many different species of our feathered friends around the area. Bring some of your own birdseed and see if you can attract them. We've seen chicakdees, piliated and downy woodpeckers, nuthatches, cardinals, blue jays, bluebirds, creepers, american tree sparrows, mourning doves, and others (let us know in your post what you saw!). Most people only see the squirrels and raccoons...

There is a bridge nearby that was placed there in the 1950's as a temporary replacement for one that was damaged during Hurricane Hazel in 1957. It's still there. We've seen in featured in a movie, too... There are occasionally film crews in the area.

Plenty of parking is available at N 43 49.492, W 79 11.788. If coming from the east (behind the zoo) turn left into the parking lot at the light for the bridge. If coming from the other direction, then cross the old bridge and immediately turn right at the end of the bridge.

The container is a purple pie-shaped Tupperware container with a tight-fitting lid (please be sure to seal completely!) When placed, it contained a logbook, pencil, pen, pencil sharpener, purple post-it notes, wooden clothespin, key, small chick, blue bookmark, and a loonie for the first-to-find trophy!
