Geocache Description:

Loanhead of Daviot is one of many Recumbant Stone Circles in this area. This is a particularly good example.

Every small community appears to have had a stone circle where most of the local community would have been involved in its construction, all about 5000 years ago. Historic Scotland looks after this one very well. It is well preserved, although the huge recumbant is now split in two due to the elements. There is lots of info about it at the site. The Stone Circle is beyond a wooded area owned by the scouts, and is well signposted. There is a parking area.
