Geocache Description:

ATTENTION!! Please read the cache page and look at the pictures before heading out to Cape Forchu. It will help you find what you are looking for.

Cape Forchu shows evidence of Nova Scotia's once active volcanoes.

Cape Forchu is comprised of volcanic rock, mostly basalt, which was formed during the silurian period (444 to 426 m.y.a.). This gives a hint to Nova Scotia's volcanic past.

Basalt is the most common rock type on the Earth's crust. It is most commonly produced from direct melting of the Earth's mantle and brought to the surface during a volcanic eruption.

Located in the rocks at Cape Forchu are volcanic 'bombs'.

In order to claim this Earthcache:
1. Locate a volcanic bomb and take a picture of it with you, your group, or your GPS.
2. Email me the coordinates and the approximate dimensions of the bomb, along with any other observations of the area you think are interesting.

You do not have to wait for confirmation from me to log your find. However, any logs that DO NOT meet ALL requirements will be deleted.
