This cache is a dedication to a bit of Bellevue's history. It is a traditional cache with all the typical cache goodies inside.
This cache is located near the former site of the Kramer Power Station. The Kramer Power Plant was a coal-fired power station owned by the Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD), and operated from 1949 till it was retired in 1987. The plant was named after Harold Kramer, a businessman and civic leader in the 1930's and 1940's. On Christmas Eve, 2003, the smokestacks of the facility were demolished, and in June of 2004, the main building was leveled to make way for a future park and increased green space along the Missouri River. 101 acres were opened up to nearly double the size of nearby Hayworth Park.
The cache is a typical ammo can and has been loaded with all the typical cache goodies. In order to maintain maximum protection from the elements, all items have been put in zip-lock bags and placed into a tupperware container inside of the ammo can. The area can be a pretty popular site, depending on the season and the weather...so beware of muggles and please replace the container carefully so that it doesn't get muggled. I suggest taking a walk along the trail that begins just north of the cache if you have the time. The trailhead is visible, but I believe it is only open during daylight hours.
