Geocache Description:

The Forgotten Knott Cemetery. I call it forgotten because the cemetery is overgrown with mesquite shrubbery, some taller grass areas and weeds. It also has had previous years of heavy sand movement covering many stones almost completly. Most stones indicate burials from the early 1900's to the 1960's with most in the teens thru the 40's.
The cemetery is located 100 yards east of the intersection of County Roads A4401 (NS) and A3600 (EW)
Directions. From US 87, drive 4 miles west of Knott Post Office and turn left onto A4401. From TX 137 (Stanton to Lamesa) turn east. When you come to the first nice home on your left, turn right onto A4401, then onto A3600 for 100 yards. The cemetery is on the right among mesquite trees.
The Cache is located in the center of the cemetery. Look first for some hot pink flags which lead to the area.
Watch for stickeries and rattlies. A staff would be good. The cache is in an army decon container. A ball, some erasers, pencil, log and trinkets are inside. I did quite a bit of work to eliminate some of the sticky hazards. The path from the county road to the cache area can be easily transversed. By the way, treat the area as what it is...a cemetery. I personally have been going to the location for quite a while, digging blown sand away from almost obscured headstones. Be very sober in your actions toward the generations of the past 100 years by reverance for the deceased who have been forgotten.
