Trappistbrew: After many years of having fun with this cache, I'm saddened to say it can no longer be maintained. After recent floods, the area of the final is no longer sustainable for a geocache. I also no longer live in the area. Many thanks go out to ArmyFamily4 for the work put in to maintain this cache this long. My apologies to Sweetpicklemommy for not archiving this cache before they waisted their time looking for it. This is such a great location for a geocache. There have been several others in the past. Archiving this will allow someone to place a new one at this beautiful park. I'm sure it wont be long.

Geocache Description:


This cache was designed to be fun for the whole family. It includes a little exercise, a little learning about nature and a lot of appreciating this beautiful park. This is a fairly easy multi-cache to find but it will take a little time. I only ask that you take your time and enjoy the natural beauty this park has to offer. If you haven’t found the other cache here at Swan Lake, this would be a great time. (GCKV07) You can easily grab it while hunting this one as you will be walking fairly close to it.

STAGE ONE

Park in the Swan Lake parking lot and follow the cache coordinates through the gate to the bronze sign depicting a map and some history of the park.

Answer the following questions to decipher the coordinates to the second stage. When you have it figured out, proceed south (notice cardinal direction points on the ground) and keep the lake on your left as you walk to stage two.

1. A = What is the last digit of the year that Mr. Jimmie McDuffie donated the pedestrian crossover connecting the Bland and Heath gardens.

2. B = What is the last digit in the year that the Friends of Swan Lake was organized.

3. C = What is the third digit of the year Mr. Hamilton Carr Bland began developing the gardens.

Stage Two Coordinates: N 33 AA.BCC W080 CC.BBA

STAGE TWO

Locate the series of bronze signs and answer the following questions from them.

1. A = The height the Pineapple Sage can grow in one season.
2. B = The lower end of the listed height of Lavender.
3. C = The approximate height of the ‘Mohawk’ shrub.
4. D = One third of the height of a Russian Sage.
5. E = The number of sides of the Genus Salvia Sage stem added to the number of species of it listed.
6. F = The high end height of the ‘Dwarf Snowflake’.
7. G = The size of the ripe banana smelling flowers.

STAGE THREE

This bench is my favorite in the park. It’s a good spot to take a break and watch nature. Sit down and take it all in but watch out for the angry swan. Several times here, I’ve had a female white swan try and run me off. It’s kind of funny actually. One time her mate started over and yelled at her for doing so and she just sulked away. There is no nest around that I could find. I have seen her several times over the last 3 years or so.

It is on this bench that you will find the coordinates to the final cache.

FINAL CACHE LOCATION

At the final location I averaged the coordinates for quite a while and I think I got them pretty close despite the trees in the area trying to throw me off. The cache is visible once you are on top of it and should make for a pretty easy find.
