EVENT
This years event will be taking place
on 24/25/26 Aug 2007. This is the English bank holiday
weekend.
The lodge will be available from
evening on the 24th until noon on the 26th, with the main event
being a Saturday night BBQ
FRIDAY:- The lodge will open at approx 6pm. There
is a fully equipped kitchen for anyone wishing to cook
(fridge/freezer/oven/hob/grill/microwave etc). For those who don't,
the Clova Hotel with its welcoming climbers bar is just down the
road (serves meals until 2045 on Fri) and there are several
restaurants/carry outs/chip shops in Kirriemuir or Forfar on the
way to the lodge.
Would everyone coming on the Friday
night please bring some nibbles and wine/beer
SATURDAY :-
All day caching! There will be transport
to Glen Prosen for anyone wishing to do the Ministers Path from
Prosen Village or the Kilbo Path from Prosen Lodge. There have been
several new caches set along the Kilbo Path and there is a series
already in place covering the Ministers Path. There will also be
transport back from Auchallater for anyone who wishes to walk the
full length of Jocks Road collecting the new caches along the
way.
There are also a variety of new caches
for the not so energetic!!
The lodge will be unattended most of
the day, however there will be someone to open it up again at
around 4pm.
The BBQ
The BBQ should be ready by
about 6pm. Ken has volunteered to cook the food on the BBQ
again this year (leave an expert in charge!). FFB has been
catching trout all summer for us. AB has offered to make some of
her delicious potato salad and H is making an "industrial sized"
pasta salad for everyone. Can everyone bring some BBQ food with
them to share too.
SUNDAY:- Can everyone please
sober up and leave the lodge by noon. We will still be there
sweeping the floors and hiding the damage until late afternoon so
if anyone is walking in the area, they can leave cars parked and
any personal belongings in the entrance hall.
LOCATION
Scott Lodge is situated in the shadow
of Driesh by the Glen Doll car park at the head of Glen Clova,
approximately a 30-40min drive from the A90 (the main
Aberdeen/Dundee road) The area is one of the most beautiful parts
of Scotland, with several Munros close to the lodge as well as
gentle forest walks and scenic trails. More energetic walks such as
Bachnagairn, Jocks Road, Capel Mounth, the Kilbo path and the
Ministers path are all either accessible from the lodge or nearby,
and many of these routes already have caches along them or have new
ones planned before this years event.
As well as the area around the lodge,
there is the low-lying land of the Vale of Strathmore, containing
many pretty towns and villages, several of which already have
caches in place.
THE LODGE
Scott Lodge is used as a weekend base
for the Boys Brigade, and as such it has a well equipped kitchen,
showers, drying room etc. It has recently been refurbished to a
good standard and we understand that further renovations will be
taking place this year (there is no truth in the rumour that we
wrecked the place last year!) The lodge is suitable for disabled
persons with ramps/disabled toilet/shower etc.
Sleeping accommodation is in a
dormitory with 24 beds
Scott Lodge will be provided free to
all cachers attending the event - all you will need to bring is
your own bedding, food and drink and all we ask is that you tidy up
after yourself!

Gathering
In The Glens - The bonus
This last cache is a puzzle that needs
teamwork from everyone attending the GITG2 to help solve.
Inside a lot of the new caches you will find a piece of
Jigsaw beside the logbook. Please bring that back with you to
the BBQ on saturday night where hopefully the jigsaw will be
assembled, then the bonus cache will reveal
itself.
So lookout for the jigsaw pieces!

you leave Kirriemuir. There is a telephone at Scott Lodge for
