Geocache Description:

Mark your calendars now for the 4th annual WSGA Campout. This year, the beautiful city of Port Townsend will be our host for a fun-filled weekend of camping, caching, making new friends, and getting reacquainted with geocachers from all over the state and beyond!

Online pre-registration for the campout is now closed. You're still welcome to plan on attending the campout, but you'll need to pay your campout registration fee at the sign-in table when you arrive. If you also plan on camping with us, you'll be able to pay for your camping fees at the sign-in table on your arrival.

Our headquarters for the weekend will be the Jefferson County Fairgrounds group camp area on Friday and Saturday nights, August 17 and 18th. The fairgrounds are conveniently located close to historic Fort Worden and the downtown waterfront district, and is served by regular public transit.

Along with spacious level grassy camping sites with full hookups for RV's and tent pads, there's a large shower and restroom building at the group camp and our exclusive use of a kitchen and dining building for our traditional potluck and barbecue. There's also a free dump station available for RV'ers use on site, and well behaved dogs are welcome.

Cost per night with full hookups, $20.00, or $18.00 with no hookups (RV's or tents). There's no need to make individual reservations with the Fairgrounds, as we have a large area reserved for our exclusive use with plenty of room for all. For those not interesting in overnight camping, but who still want to join in the fun, there are several area motels, hotels, and B&B's available in the Port Townsend area. You should make reservations for these alternates ASAP, however, as this is a very popular time of year for tourists to visit this beautiful corner of the state!

Be sure to put a watch on this page now, as there will be lots of details to follow as soon as we have them -- your campout committee will be hard at work in the next few months, planning to make this the best campout yet! There will also be information available on the WSGA forums as the time draws closer. Please post your "will attend" note to the cache page as soon as you've made your plans -- it will help our steering committee to help with organizing the activities and ordering supplies.

In what has become an annual tradition, the WSGA will host a Saturday evening barbecue dinner. We will provide hamburgers, hotdogs, chips, and a beverage to all paid attendees. Each camping family is asked to bring a side dish to complete the meal.

Along with regular planned activities, you'll have the opportunity to browse through the shops along the waterfront, find some of the local area's great caches, tour historic Fort Worden, or just relax and soak up the sun that Port Townsend is legendary for in August.
