Geocache Description:

Poppy loves to go for a ride. She loves to stop and smell around,
too. Here’s your chance to do the same. Exit West bound I-10 mile marker 514 in Kerr County.

Pull in for a pit stop and stretch your legs. It’s just a little walk to the cache and your dog will appreciate all the new sights and scents. Poppy likes to walk around on the trails through the trees. Lots of critters roam around here at night and leave her interesting notes; she wants to read them all, but we have to get going. There’s a few lying around for your dog, too, so give ‘em a chance to explore.

This is a nice rest area in the Texas tradition – clean, attractive, well maintained. The facilities are not of the fancy new designs, but it contains the travelers’ most urgent need. Linear parking accommodates all vehicles. Picnic tables and an RV station are available. But, these amenities don’t compare with the view. Take a walk down the paved path to a covered gazebo and see the agricultural valley below. This is the beautiful Texas Hill Country!

We recently had a long trip and really looked forward to the rest stop caches. “When’s the next one” was a common phrase. So take a break, log a find and hit the road again!

The rest stop is easily accessible for those with disabilities, but assistance will be needed to reach the container.

The county was named for James Kerr, an Old Three Hundred colonist and an important figure in the Texas Revolution.

This is the sister cache of Bailey's Cedar Break GCV5J0 eastbound.

+ Exit westbound I-10 mile marker 514 in Kerr County, Texas - approaching Kerrville.

+ Park at the first picnic table on the right after the facilities building for a perpendicular approach to the cache.

+ The Maintenance Crew at this rest stop is Very Active (thank goodness), so please pay attention to their where-a-bouts on retrieval.
