BLAMMO is for those who are excited and enthusiastic about
writing their geocacheing logs!! So excited, in fact, that they
invent new words to describe their experience. Some times the best
ones are about blunders or things that went wrong along the way.
Add a few photos to the mix and the rest of us get a feel for each
cache as well as the other geocachers in the area. A lot of work
goes into the planning and planting of a cache so the least we can
do is return the favor by describing the experience.
The following examples are entertaining reads.
BLAMMO is a multi waypoint cache on west end trails. It is about
4-5 kilometres in length and you will have another kilometre back
to your car from the final cache location. There is an obvious
parking lot near the posted coordinates. You will find the trail
network will take you where you need to go. At each stop (there are
5 not including the cache) along the way you will encounter a
different kind of waypoint. None should be difficult to locate but
only one is a plastic tag. Look carefully and please leave things
the way you found them and don’t remove any items. It is certainly
possible to do this one at night but it is likely a lot easier
during the day. Depending on the season you will be able to bike,
hike, ski or snowshoe. While planting the cache I encountered deer,
a porcupine, woodpeckers and plenty of chicadees (bring some
seed).
The cache container is a large peanut butter container (washed
twice in the dishwasher) so keep your trade items small. There are
some prizes for the first few finders. There are two LCBO gift
cards, two Simpsons bottle openers and three package parts for mega
chocolate bars (Take one and I will arrange to give you the rest of
the bar). If you are in a group please share a prize and leave the
rest for the next group. For those that follow there are several of
my laminated muffin recipes.
In the spirit of the cache, please share some interesting
details of your experience and a pic or two. Now off to the woods,
BLAMMO!!
