Geocache Description:

Located at 1100 feet above sea level, this cache takes you to a scenic outlook on a circle of the Hubbard / Perkins conservation area adjacent to Fahnestock park. Some parts of this trail are steep, rocky and slippery. Wading may be required. Please be aware that this is both tick and bear country.

Located mid-way along the blue trail, you're looking for an ammo can. There are several ways you might come here but coming from Round Hill, will offer you a chance to experience this unique area. The terrain profile should give you a good idea of the journey you will enjoy.

As this cache is located midway on our tour it is an excellent point to take a break and to enjoy the view before you head to the Yellow Trail or Round Hill. There is no need to bushwhack at all so please keep to the marked trails.

The view from this spot tends to be somewhat seasonal with the best times being from October through to May. However, if you are heading onwards to East Mountain, just walk a few paces up the trail, turn around, and look!

The initial contents of the cache included some first aid supplies, tape measure, calculator keyring, hand-warmers, some batteries (please take only what you need) and, of course, various Things Of Pooh. The FTF prize is the ubiquitous Winnie The Pooh Paperback.

From here, you can either continue until you meet the Yellow Trail and then to the Red Trail and East Mountain, or if you have come from East Mountain then continue along the Blue Trail to Round Hill. Along the Yellow Trail you will encounter a small but pretty waterfall. If time is short, the white trail provides a short cut (it's all relative, of course) back to your vehicle.

Parking coordinates are listed in The Half Round.

This cache has NYS parks' permit 04-07
