This chache is located on the back side of Sandy Neck in
Barnstable, MA. PLEASE DO NOT VENTURE OFF THE TRAIL AND INTO THE
DUNES. NATURAL RESOURCE MANAGEMENT WILL SHUT THIS CACHE DOWN IF
ANYONE IS SEEN IN THE DUNES OFF THE TRAIL. THANK YOU!
You can park your vehicle in the Sandy Neck Beach parking lot and
hike in (Apx. 2 miles) on the beach. The coordinates for the
parking lot are: N 41 41.334 W 070 22.860. During the Summer months
you will have to have a Barnstable or Sandwich beach sticker to
park in the lot or pay the daily fee ($15 from 8AM - 4PM). After
Labor Day and before Memorial Day you should not need a sticker. If
you have a 4X4 vehicle and a Sandy Neck Beach Off-road vehicle
sticker (permit required), you can drive out on the beach to the
head of trail #2 and the cache is a short walk from there. The
coordinates for trail #2 are: N 41 44.177 W 070 20.994 PLEASE DO
NOT DRIVE ON TRAIL #2 WITH YOUR 4X4 VEHICLE. THANK YOU! A third
option is to take the trail which is at the guard shack. This is a
2 mile hike along the Great Marsh with some terrific views. (I
recommend this hike)! FINAL NOTE: Keep an eye on the high tide. It
may make the walk in on the back trail a bit difficult.
